EDIT:  Dear Arashians,  the deadline has been extended to GMT 2359h 30 Novemeber 2009 - ie Singapore time 0759h 1 December 2009.  Those who had already made submissions, if you so choose to, you can re-submit them, just indicate it in your email submission to Wanzi.


Hey Arashians,

In celebration of our 4th year anniversary on 9th Nov 09, even more important that we have returned from a long hiatus plus this year also marks Arashi's 10 year anniversary... let's have a rock and rolling good time!  rock on

Below are some contests we've rolled out for you and yes, prizes are given. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we are excited to give out these prizes.

Rule #1 - Only registered members of Arashian.Com is allowed to participate.
Rule #2 - Multiple submissions per contest is not allowed. You can take part in as many contests but only 1 prize can be given to the winning arashian overall.
Rule #3 - Email your submission to xiaowanzi@arashian.com and clearly state the contest number on your email subject. Please also include the name/nickname here in Arashian.
Rule #4 - Late entries will not be qualified.

Contest #1[/u]
Create a new tag/punch line for Arashian.Com.
Deadline: 22th Nov 2009 (Sun) 30 November 2009
Prize: Singles - Everything (Japan Regular Edition)

Currently and for the past 4 years, Arashian.Com's has been We are Arashian - We belong to Arashi!!! This was chosen because that was what Arashian means.

Can you come up with a new tag/punch line for us? What does Arashian means to you?! What is it about Arashian.Com? Of course, these are not exhausive, just a few suggestions on the direction you can work on. Please include a short explanation of the reason/explanation behind your tagline.

Create a favourite icon for Arashian.Com.
Deadline: 22th Nov 2009 (Sun) 30 November 2009
Prize: Album - All the best 1999-2009 (Hong Kong Limited Edition)

Want your creation to be used in the forum? Here's your chance! Make a set of emoticons for Arashian.Com and we will have them up in the forum. Only .gif format is allowed.

A set would include the following: 1 each for the 5 boys, 1 for the group, 1 for 嵐.


More contests will be posted shortly. Prizes includes: 10th Anniversary Commemorative Photobook, 5x10 concert goodies, My Girl Single Limited edition etc etc...

What time zone are we talking about? Because if this is in Asia time, that means people who live in Europe, North, & South America will have Nov. 21st as their deadline date.

Hihi,

We will take 2359h GMT on 22 November 2009. 

That means for those residing in the Singapore timezone (GMT +8h) it will be 0759h on 23 November 2009.

Ok, by my interpretations, it should be emoticons featuring the members individually, emoticons featuring the 5 of them, and emoticons that features the word 嵐...   :victory:

So that means, those who live in North and South America won't have much time to submit their entries. Next time I'd suggest follow Hawaii Time (2 hours behind Pacific Time) because that's the latest time before the orbit reaches the Int'l Time Zone (b/w Alaska & Russia). 2359 GMT Nov 22 would be daytime for North & South America, which is kinda unfair for the fans who live there.

The more familiar term is favicon. If you don't know what that is, it's the little icon next to the URL at the top of your browser. Here's an example (from Firefox):



I know most of you are unfamiliar with how to make these, however here's a quick tutorial (I know not everyone uses Photoshop, so will have to go manual LOL).

  • Using your graphics manipulation program like Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, and GIMP, create a 64x64 blank document.
  • Create your design. It's best if you can fill up the entire box so when you shrink it to the favicon size (16x16), you'd still be able to see your design clearly.
  • When you're finished, resize your entire design to 16x16.
  • Using a Filter-type feature with whatever program you're using (in Photoshop, there's a Filter menu), sharpen your image to get rid of the "blur" as much as you can.
  • Once you're satisfied with the clarity of your icon, save it as favicon.ico. You can't use another filename other than favicon.ico because that will be the only filename that all browsers will read. Otherwise it won't work. If your program doesn't support saving .ico image files, you can go to a Favicon Generator site such as this one.
  • Send your favicon.ico file to Xiaowanzi before the deadline date.

Also, the design has to be simplistic, nothing fancy because you won't be able to see the image clearly in 16x16 if it's too complex-looking.

Not true.   The contest was first announced on November 9th, 2009.  There is ample time to prepare and submit entries by 2359h GMT November 22nd, 2009.

The problem is, not everyone noticed the announcement until I actually got an email alert yesterday about the announcements. How was I to know that it's been announced on the 9th? (granted I was (and still is) on NaNoWriMo hiatus, which obviously meant I didn't have the time to do any of this)

2359h GMT around daytime my time. I'd still be in church then, plus I'm heading off somewhere on Saturday before that day. Whatever then.

I kinda would like it to be extended also. I killed myself trying to get them in on time (which I did, thankfully ^_^[ignoring very pressing homework to do so  :wallbash:]) , but I would like to improve one in particular, if there was some more time.

Sorry for taking so long to respond to this thread and your requests.  

Our dear Wanzi has agreed to extend the submission deadline to 30 Nov 09.  

To make it easier for us (who are in Singapore), it will be GMT 2359h, 30 November 2009 - i.e. Singapore time 0759h 1 December 2009.  

For those who had already submitted entries, but want to improve further on it, you are more than welcomed to do so.  

Please indicate in your email re-submissions to Wanzi that you had already submitted an entry, but would like to improve on it.

I did 2 quick submissions at the last minute last weekend b/c of the very short notice of the due dates (one of them was a VERY BAD submission too x_x), however for the banner (I'm assuming it's for the (new?) forum design) is there any specific color that you want us to use or are we sticking to everything blue? (though blue is my favorite color, I prefer having a variety of colors once in awhile for Arashian ^^).

As what Evelyn has mentioned, i would like to add on that due to the extended deadline, i will have to push the announcement of winner to a later date (instead of the intended 30th Nov). Thank you for the kind understanding.

As for the banner, i do not have any specific color... let's unleash the creativity in all Arashians...!  :winky:
